The SVP

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul

Aims

Founded by Frederick Ozanam in France in 1833, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has grown into a world wide organisation with over 600,000 members. It aims to turn concern for the needy into practical action by giving direct spiritual, social and financial support, chiefly through home visits.  Within Saint Wulstan's parish the activities of the SVP are co-ordinated by Ellen Gould.

Meetings

Branches of the society are called 'conferences'.  Our conference meets every Tuesday at 7.00pm in the meeting room in Saint Wulstan's Community Centre.

Activities

Our local conference helps to organise visits and practical help for those who are sick or needy.  We help to arrange healing masses for the sick and elderly, usually at Porthill Green.  We help to arrange lifts to these events and also to weekend masses.
