Prayer

Prayer is the most important activity in the Christian life.  Indeed, we are advised us to pray always! (Luke 18:1)

When we pray we need to remember that prayer is really about  communication with God and like all forms of communication it should be a two way process.  We need to be able to listen just as much as we need to speak! So while it is quite in order to do the things listed on the right, there is much to gain by developing an approach to prayer that gives you a better chance of listening to God's reply!

Most people's ideas of prayer!

Supplication: Asking God to meet our needs and wishes.

Intercession: Praying for the needs and wishes of other people.

Praise: Thanking God for his actions on our behalf and on behalf of others.

There are many different ways of praying.  Hopefully the pages in this web site will cast a little light on some of them.

It is good to become familiar with different styles of prayer because as we grow in faith over the years, we may find it helpful or even necessary to modify our approach to prayer.
