Hail Queen of Heaven

Ave Regina Caelorum is probably of monastic origin and dates from around the 12th century. Like the Salve Regina it is traditionally used at the conclusion of Compline (night prayer). The antiphon is traditionally recited from the Feast of the Purification through until Wednesday in Holy Week.

Gaude, Virgo gloriosa, Super omnes speciosa, Vale, o valde decora, Et pro nobis Christum exora.	Glorious Virgin, joy to thee, Loveliest whom in Heaven they see, Fairest thou where all are fair! Plead with Christ our sins to spare.
V Dignare me laudare te, Virgo sacrata. R Da mihi virtutem contra hostes tuos.
